We moved back to the US permanently in 2000, I finished my last two years of high school in Stafford, Virginia and then made my way to Virginia Commonwealth University for college. I started as a theater major and then landed on an English Literature major and a double minor in Women’s Studies and Political Science. After graduating in 2009, I began wedding planning as a side hustle to my full-time job. I saw that my clients were always frustrated that there were no bridal gown shops in Virginia that offered high-quality dresses with an intimate, personalized experience that were also LGBTQ+ friendly and offered an array of sizes and styles. Everything was either an uptight, traditional shop with no diversity or a big-box bridal shop with no intimacy. In 2014, I opened Urban Set Bride with my mom, Jennifer, to fill that void. Urban Set offers high-quality, designer wedding gowns in a cozy, private boutique that welcomes every type of bride. We also spent the next few years growing our wedding planning business, the Hive Wedding Collective, to include four full-time planners and handle 60+ weddings a year in Virginia, DC, Maryland and beyond. After my second son was born in 2020 (the only bright spot in a garbage year) I decided to pivot my focus to consulting. I’ve helped four friends start their own businesses; it’s time to offer my knowledge and experience to the masses. I started offering small business consulting to wedding professionals, took on a few social media management clients and got ordained in 2023 to fill the void of fashionable, well-spoken officiants in Richmond with a creative writing background. I live in Bon Air with my husband, our two boys and our two rescue pups, Frida + Pickles. I love traveling, exploring Richmond restaurants with my girlfriends, keeping my plants alive, reading a ton of books, barre class aka ballerina bootcamp and relaxing with my little family.
